This is a layer of bridges throughout Palm Beach County
Communication towers within Palm Beach County. The data was obtained from the DRC-Towers database from the Zoning Department. Tower locations were derived from the PCN of each tower. The FCODE field can be linked to the Map_No field in DRC-Towers database. The layer is related to the Communication Towers Data table by the Comm_Tower_Seq field.
EDGE Field
MX: Mixed. This is when there was a bulk head but there was 5+ meters of vegetation (usually mangroves) in front of it.
HS: Hard structure, RipRap
NS: Natural shoreline, either mangroves, beachy area, seagrapes
BH: Bulk head
Collected: March 30, 2020 – September 30, 2020
The USE (FCODE) field contains the types of sites. The TYPE field further classifies the USE.
Bulk- Site for very large items to be broken down and sent to PODS
CSA- County Staging Area (County)
LSA- Logistical Staging Area (State)
POD- Point of Distribution (County/Municipal) 1st line of relief to affected areas/citizens. Not all sites are used or opened at once. Only site type open to the public.
DRC- Disaster Recovery Center (FEMA/County) Recovery phase of an incident.
EOA Coordination Site - Command Center for the EOA. (Parks with other County Staff assigned)
Shelter- Not all Shelters are open during a storm. Severity and necessity dictates where and when they will open. These shelters have been hardened to withstand hurricane winds. Maps carry a disclaimer in red: IMPORTANT: Not all shelters will be opened at the same time. Stay tuned to local TV and radio for shelter opening announcements.
Hurricane season shelter types are:
Risk- Open to persons living in an evacuation zone with no other means of shelter, manufactured or mobile home, substandard construction or flood-prone area.
Special Needs- By Registration only.
Animal- By Registration only.
All other hazards Shelter types are:
Host– Used as during hazards other than hurricanes such as a Radiological Event or Wildfire.
Cold Weather– use to house homeless during cold weather meeting certain criteria. Used with the USE (FCODE) “Pickup” sites.
PICK UP– Predesignated location for those needing transportation to an open Cold Weather shelter.
