This dataset comprises polygons which attempt to better locate populated places in New Zealand. Populated places are defined as settled areas, either urban or rural, where densities of around 20 persons per hectare exist, and something is able to be seen from the air. The source data was downloaded from the koordinates.com website. It has been modified in the following ways:

This dataset records where Nassella Tussock has been found in the past by Marlborough District Council staff or through confirmed reports. Strong caution is advised as there may be other infestations in Marlborough that have not yet been captured in this dataset. If you suspect any other infestations that are not marked on this map, please contact the Biosecurity team at Council. This dataset does not distinguish the density or nature of the infestation at a given site. A marked area could range from heavily infested to only scattered plants. This dataset is the definitive set of regional council boundaries for 2015 as defined by the Local Government Commission and/or regional councils themselves but maintained by Statistics New Zealand (the custodian). The New Zealand 2015 clipped generalised (NZTM) dataset was downloaded in Esri geodatabase format from the Statistics New Zealand Geographic boundary files website. The downloaded geodatabase contains several feature classes representing various political boundaries. This dataset is based on the REGC2015_GV_Clipped feature class.
