Description: The Interregional Road System (IRRS) is a series of state highway routes, outside the urbanized areas (based on Caltrans Adjusted 2000 Census Urbanized Area Boundaries), that provides access to, and a link between, the State’s economic centers, major recreational areas, and urban and rural regions. The IRRS feature class based on a line feature class representing adopted, proposed, and constructed California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) state highway routes.
The feature class line work was created utilizing dynamic segmentation and is based on postmile locations derived from the Transportation System Network (TSN) database. Where lanes are proposed and the state highway is unconstructed, adopted routes were used.
