Description: This layer contains a compilation of watershed improvement projects, both past and current, throughout the Raritan Watershed. The locations and attribute information for the projects were obtained from a variety of federal, state county and municipal agencies. Projections were checked for location accuracy using aerial imagery and adjusted as necessary using the available project description location and best judgement. Floodplain acquisitions were mapped using data available online from Blue Acres, parcel data and municipal records. After locations were verified and adjusted they were grouped into one of ten categories: pond restoration, wetland restoration, basin retrofit, cistern, floodplain acquisition, rain garden, reforestation, riparian buffer improvement, shoreline restoration, storm water treatment or stream restoration. Additional attributes contain contact information, project description, grant sourcing, and target waterbody and other descriptive details when available. Rain garden and rain barrel projects without any identifying locational information were not included in this dataset.
