This feature class shows the known coastal marinas permitted by SCDHEC. It includes those with and those without pumpouts. It was created May 2012 by Jessica Boynton in the MRRI GIS office. The original data is maintained and updated by Scott Meister. The data has been confirmed by phone and on the ground visits. Most, but not all, lat/long locations have been ground truthed.

This feature class shows the kiosks and facilities associated with the ACE Basin NERR. These locations are divided into kiosks, docks, barracks, classrooms, sheds, offices, and multipurpose areas.
This is a list of all of the Vendors that would receive publication material from the ACE Basin NERR.
Beach zones classifications are used in the determination of state beach jurisdictional lines.
Standard Zones
Within a standard erosion zone (a segment of shoreline which is subject to essentially the same set of coastal processes, has a fairly constant range of profiles and sediment characteristics and is not directly influenced by tidal inlets or associated inlet shoals) the baseline is established at the location of the crest of the primary oceanfront sand dune in that zone. In a standard erosion zone in which the shoreline has been altered naturally or artificially by the construction of erosion control devices, groins, or other man-made alterations, the baselines must be established by DHEC using the best scientific and historical data, as where the crest of the primary ocean front sand dune for that zone would be located if the shoreline had not been altered.
Unstabilized Inlet Zones
Within an unstabilized inlet zone (inlets that have not been stabilized by jetties, terminal groins, or other structures) the baseline must be determined by DHEC as the most landward point of erosion at anytime during the past forty years, unless the best available scientific and historical data of the inlet and adjacent beaches indicate that the shoreline is unlikely to return to its former position. In collecting and utilizing the best scientific and historical data available for the implementation of the retreat policy, DHEC as part of the State Comprehensive Beach Management, among other factors, must consider: historical inlet migration, inlet stability, channel and ebb tidal delta changes, the effects of sediment bypassing on shorelines adjacent to the inlets, and the effects of nearby beach restoration project on inlet sediment budgets.
Stabilized Inlet Zones
Within a stabilized inlet zone (inlets which are stabilized by jetties, terminal groins, or other
Structures) the baseline location must be determined in the same manner as provided for in a standard erosion zone. However the actual location of the crest of the primary oceanfront sand dune of that erosion zone is the baseline of that zone, not the location if the inlet had remained unstabilized.
Polygon layer
This shapefile shows the outline of the ACE Basin NERR boundary. The boundary followed the description for the NERR boundary and buffer as laid out in the 1992 Final Management Plan for the ACE Basin National Estuarine Research Reserve in South Carolina (see supplemental section). The boundary was hand digitized at 1:5000 from the 2006 NAIP color infrared photography (SCDNR DOQQ electronic imagery), and then it was snapped to the 2008 Beaufort, Colleton, and Charleston county parcel layers. Where parcel layers were not present, the boundary was drawn in accordance with following guidelines established by SCDNR GIS and NERRs staff. Note: Detailed steps used to create the boundary are described in the Process Step section. 1.) Along the western border, the boundary was drawn along the creek-marsh edge of Wimbee Creek, Parrot Creek and Morgan River, passing on the inside of sandbars and small marsh islands. Where privately-owned lands were adjacent to the waterbodies, the boundary was snapped to the Beaufort parcel data layers. 2.) The southern, ocean border was snapped to the Collision Regulations (COLREGS) demarcation line data layer (U.S. Coast Guard). 3.) The northern boundary was digitized to the abandoned Seaboard Coastline Railroad. 4.) The eastern boundary was snapped to Colleton and Charleston county parcel data.In 2012, the boundary was expanded to include Botany Bay Plantation and Fig Island. They were both digitized at 1:5000 off the Charleston county GIS parcel layer.
Dock, boat ramp, bridge/causeway and marina slip footprints for the OCRM Critical Area of S.C., and some areas outside the Critical Area. Used for permit review and analysis, and long-term planning purposes.
