This data is intended for geographic display and analysis on the planning level and for all levels from the local neighborhood upward to smaller regional scales.
The regulatory definition of an MS4 (40 CFR 122.26(b)(8)) is "a conveyance or system of conveyances (including roads with drainage systems, municipal streets, catch basins, curbs, gutters, ditches, man-made channels, or storm drains): (i) Owned or operated by a state, city, town, borough, county, parish, district, association, or other public body (created to or pursuant to state law) including special districts under state law such as a sewer district, flood control district or drainage district, or similar entity, or an Indian tribe or an authorized Indian tribal organization, or a designated and approved management agency under section 208 of the Clean Water Act that discharges into waters of the United States. (ii) Designed or used for collecting or conveying stormwater; (iii) Which is not a combined sewer; and (iv) Which is not part of a Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) as defined at 40 CFR 122.2."
No responsibility is assumed by the Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District in the use of these data.
RCFC Facilities segments are identified by construction type and whether each part is placed above or below ground.
Under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act, states, territories and authorized tribes are required to develop a list of water quality limited segments. These waters on the list do not meet water quality standards, even after point sources of pollution have installed the minimum required levels of pollution control technology. The Clean Water Act requires that these jurisdictions establish priority rankings for water on the lists and develop action plans, called as Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL), to improve water quality.
Every two years, the California State Water Resources Control Board submits a report on the State's water quality to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency pursuant to Section 305(b) of the federal Clean Water Act. The Report provides water quality information to the general public and serves as the basis for U.S. EPA 's National Water Quality Inventory Report to Congress.
This dataset includes all linear water body features in California assessed under Sections 303(d) and 305(b) of the Clean Water Act for the combined 2014 and 2016 Integrated Report listing cycle. Each water body is assigned a unique Water Body ID (WBID) number as well as selected associated information (water body name, Regional Water Quality Control Board number, etc.).
Watersheds were derived from data directly received from the State of California. The coverage shows Watershed boundaries as defined by the State Water Resources Control Board.
