The WCAP Sanitary Sewer Overflow map and GeoForm were created to be able to accurately locate all sanitary sewer overflows (SSO) within the state and to be able to associate those spills to a specific wastewater treatment plant or individually/privately owned wastewater collection systems. The tool will also be able to quickly pinpoint any spills that occurred within a one mile radius of a DOH Beach Monitoring Site that could potentially be associated with a routine bacteriological sampling failure. Additionally, recording data in this manner will further standardize the reported data collection process, and the information will readily be available to the public through Department links. Statewide data will be stored in a single file location eliminating the possibility of duplicative records and easing the retrieval of data during records requests.
All data reported to the SWO will be monitored and entered daily into the ArcGIS GeoForm by Tallahassee WCAP Staff. Spills reported to the individual district offices will be entered directly by them into the GeoForm. Data can be made available in an Excel format in addition to the map. All data whether entered by Tallahassee or the district offices will undergo rigorous QA/QC protocol for data consistency and mapping accuracy.
