Service Description: This layer provides the boundary for sites that are managed for conservation as a requirement of their Environmental Resource Permit from the Mining and Mitigation Program. The site boundary includes all areas that are recorded or are to be recorded in the county records as a conservation area related to a mining project. This layer was developed to provide Department of Environmental Protection (Department) staff, other agencies, and the public with information concerning the location and extent of conservation areas associated with mandatory non-phosphate and phosphate mines in the State of Florida, Statewide. The layer was created and maintained by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Beaches, Mining, and ERP Support Program. Polygons are rough estimations and should never be interpreted as exact boundaries. For most recent accurate information, the approved mining permit or county records should be consulted. The definition for "mine" is provided by subsections 378.403(5), (10), (12) and (16), Florida Statutes. A mine is an area of land upon which mining operations have been conducted, are being conducted, or are planned to be conducted, as the term is commonly used in the trade.
