The boundary represents the area managed by Apalachicola NERR as described in the Florida Statutes (Chapter 258). The boundary includes the lower 52 miles of the Apalachicola River and floodplain, the Apalachicola Bay Aquatic Preserve, and a diverse set of upland and wetland communities around the bay. Public lands within the boundary are managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Florida Park Service, Northwest Florida Water Management District (NWFWMD) and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Florida Coastal Office. Boundary at mean high water level was digitized through photointerpretation of high resolution imagery (Digital Orthophoto Quadrangles at 1 ft resolution, 2010 and 2013).
