Abstract:

A list of schools including contact details, institution information, regional information & decile information for the Auckland Region

Purpose:

Denotes the location of a school as defined by the Ministry of Education. The associated table PUBLICATION.MASTER.SchoolLocationData contains non spatial information related to the school. The data can be joined using the column ‘School_Num’

Lineage:

Data is a mixture of legacy data and data from the Ministry of Education website: https://www.educationcounts.govt.nz/data-services/directories/list-of-nz-schools. This publically available data is an Excel spreadsheet. The Latitude and Longitude columns in the spreadsheet are used to locate new schools. The location is modified (where appropriate) using aerial photography so as to be placed on the main building rather than the centre of the school property. See 'LocationSource' column for source of each record. In the LocationSource column, the value ‘Education Department’ denotes that the information comes from this “educationcounts” website (previous URL). Last updated February 2016

Comes from legacy data but updated using data (Excel spreadsheet) from Ministry of Education which is downloaded from the website https://www.educationcounts.govt.nz/data-services/directories/list-of-nz-schools.
