Auckland Council is currently reviewing its representation arrangements for the 2019 local elections, to help ensure fair and equitable representation. Public consultation started on 8 August seeking feedback on Council’s initial proposals, which include changes to ward and subdivision boundaries.
The requirement for an online, public-access interactive boundary viewer to illustrate the proposed changes was identified by Democracy Services, and Citizen Engagement and Insights in June. The Local Government Commission requires clear boundary definitions, and an online interactive viewing tool was seen as the ideal solution to meet not only this need, but to help increase community engagement.
The online viewer and static maps from Geospatial have been a great addition to the Representation Review Have Your Say pages and we’re looking forward to some insightful and helpful feedback on the proposed boundaries from submitters.
Many thanks to everyone directly and indirectly involved!
