Description: The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) has a standing order that allows pharmacists to provide self-administered hormonal contraceptives to patients without a prescription under A.R.S. 32-1979.01. This dataset includes pharmacies who dispense contraceptives under this standing order. There may be costs to patients.
During the 2021 Legislative Session, Senate Bill 1082 was passed into law and signed by the Arizona Governor. Patients 18 years old and older can receive contraceptives at these pharmacy locations without a doctor’s prescription. ADHS has issued a statewide standing order for self-administered hormonal birth control to aid implementation of the statute, enabling patients to visit pharmacies in their community to obtain the contraceptives, including hormonal contraceptive patches, vaginal rings, and oral contraceptives.
