Description:

This feature class is a polygon representation of the Law (Police) area that was defined by the following entities: City of Richmond, Henrico County, and Chesterfield County. This polygon is geographically contiguous with the corresponding PSAP polygon for the City of Richmond. The data within this Law boundary will be served by RPD (Richmond Police Department). RPD is not on the ESInet as of June 2020.

The reason sections of Henrico and Chesterfield Law boundaries appear as additional polygons in the Richmond Law feature class is because no data can be submitted from outside of a locality's Provisioning Boundary. Therefore, each of the surrounding counties clipped their Law Boundary with Richmond's shared Provisioning Boundary line. Those exterior pieces were provided to Richmond to be imported into the Law boundary feature class as additional polygons to be submitted on their behalf within Richmond's Provisioning area. The City of Richmond performed the same steps and supplied Henrico and Chesterfield with the polygons that lay outside of Richmond's Provisioning area for them to submit on Richmond's behalf.
