Description:

This feature class is a polygon representation of the Fire service area that was defined by the following entities: City of Richmond, Henrico County, and Chesterfield County. This polygon is geographically contiguous with the corresponding PSAP polygon for the City of Richmond. The data within this Fire boundary will be served by RFD (Richmond Fire Department). RFD is not on the ESInet as of June 2020.

The reason sections of Henrico and Chesterfield Fire boundaries appear as additional polygons in the Richmond Fire feature class is because no data can be submitted from outside of a locality's Provisioning Boundary. Therefore, each of the surrounding counties clipped their Fire Boundary with Richmond's shared Provisioning Boundary line. Those exterior pieces were provided to Richmond to be imported into the Fire boundary feature class as additional polygons to be submitted on their behalf within Richmond's Provisioning area. The City of Richmond performed the same steps and supplied Henrico and Chesterfield with the polygons that lay outside of Richmond's Provisioning area for them to submit on Richmond's behalf.
