Description: Geologic coverage. Contains polygon boundaries between mappable geologic units and polygon codes for the mappable geologic units. Contains values for the Potential Fossil Yield Classification (PFYC) for ranking the potential of a geologic unit to produce scientifically significant fossils. Also contains fields for geologic ages and sort codes for sorting the units by time. Detailed documentation on the mapped units can be found in the accompanying state generated reports. Additional fields were added to the source data including earliest geologic age, latest geologic age, PFYC justification, PFYC rank (1-5), and a coded representation for the standardized BLM coloring scheme for PFYC maps.
