Service Description: This map shows the modelled probable extent of yellow crazy ant across Australia. It is derived by applying a statistically determined threshold to the current habitat suitability model, converting the layer into a polygon of areas where the threat is predicted to be present.

Description:

This map shows the probable extent of yellow crazy ant across Australia, derived from the current habitat suitability model.

The layer is created by applying a statistically determined threshold to the continuous habitat suitability predictions. Areas with suitability values above the threshold are classified as potentially occupied by the threat, while areas below the threshold are classified as unlikely to be occupied. The resulting binary map is converted to a polygon layer representing the modelled probable distribution and extent of the threat.

This layer should be interpreted as an estimate of where the threat is likely to occur, rather than a map of confirmed presence or absence. Threshold values were calculated during model evaluation using MaxEnt statistical methods.

This dataset has been developed as part of the Threats Spatial Planner Tool (TSPT).

For detailed information on modelling methods, please refer to the methods page within the Threats Spatial Planner Tool.

For information on assumptions, limitations and appropriate use of the data, please refer to the caveats page within the Threats Spatial Planner Tool.

This layer supports national-scale threat assessment, spatial planning, risk assessment, management prioritisation and decision-making by identifying areas that may currently provide suitable habitat for yellow crazy ant.

Geographic Extent: Australia

Data Currency: Current habitat suitability based on occurrence records and environmental data available at the time of model development (2026).
