Description:

The Trail_QAQC feature class contains data for all existing, planned and decommissioned trails. It contains detailed dates and strategies for every possible mode of travel that could be used on terra, snow or water trails. It is a comprehensive compilation of: a) The Infra Linear Events table (II_TRAIL_LE_ATM_Days_V)-- this feature class contains all of the required and most of the optional linear events. Infrastructure (Infra) is a collection of applications which house information related to an assets managed by the Forest Service (including but not limited to, Roads, Bridges, Buildings, Water Systems, Waste Water Systems, Dams, Trails, and Recreation Sites). b. Access and Travel Management (ATM) records. ATM Access and Travel Management (ATM) is a data set within Infra. This feature class contains all of the nationally required data fields including fields describing motorized and non-motorized use; Terra Trail, Snow Trail and Water Trails; and Designed and Managed Uses. c. Spatial data within the S_USA.Trail dataset in the EDW (Enterprise Data Warehouse). Fields that represent modes of travel are tagged with suffixes to indicate status and populated with the corresponding dates, such as 'MNG' (Managed), 'ACPT' (Accepted) and 'DISC' (Discouraged). The 'DAYS' columns for each motorized and non-motorized mode of travel help determine if there are gap or overlaps in the dates recorded for the various strategies. Records with a zero length result from one of the following conditions: 1. Some forests have not started providing trails data to the EDW. The Infra segments for that forest are represented as features with zero length. 2. Trail features that are not properly synchronized to Infra data may show up as segments with a zero length.
