Ratings of wilderness character for each area varied from High, Moderate, Low, and No. A few corrections were made resulting in an addition of 600 acres to the evaluation layer, including Caja del Rio when it was noted that a powerline was in the wrong place on Sagebrush Flats, adding the old water pipeline in Guaje since it was reported to not be used anymore.Step 1 Inventory Process:Santa Fe National Forest Wilderness Inventory completed in 2016 as part of Forest Plan Revision. Areas removed from the inventory include the following:Criteria 1 Excluded (lines and points buffered 100 ft): Existing administrative sites including towers, helibase, Developed recreation sites (Dev Class 2-5), Utility lines (power and gas pipelines)Railroad (Amtrack), Roads (MVUM, MVUM provisional, Admin Use, Pvt Access), Oil,Gas, Water Wells (e.g. Buckman), Ski Area, Recreation ResidenceCriteria 2: Substantially Noticeable range improvements or mining areas that could be seen on high resolution (sub-meter) aerial imagery when zoomed to a scale of 1" = 1 mile (1:63360)Areas < 5000 acres excluded unless adjacent to existing USFS, BLM, NPS Wilderness
