Description:

This feature layer depicts proposed* prescribed fire (RX) projects that are in the CO Front Range WCS landscape; currently the data is only for the Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands (PSICC). The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland (ARP) will upload their data when available.


*Proposed: These polygons represent proposed treatment areas only. No specific treatment units have been defined at this time.


RX: Prescribed Burning the controlled application of fire by a team of fire experts under specified weather conditions to restore health to ecosystems that depend on fire.


Proposed projects are classified as Upcoming for those in 2024 and 2025, with Future for those in 2026 to 2029.


This layer is used in the Wildfire Crisis Strategy (WCS) CO Front Range Landscape Web Experience.
