Wildfire burn severity data was downloaded from the RAVG website (https://burnseverity.cr.usgs.gov/ravg/data-access). Burned Severity raster’s, measured as percent Basal Area Loss in 7 categories (BA7), were compiled in a central ArcGIS file geodatabase. All raster datasets were projected to CA Teale Albers NAD83 (meters) and clipped to an area representing the Montane and Upper Montane (see explanation below) region within the National Forest System Administrative Boundaries. Once all raster datasets were clipped to the appropriate area, they were further reclassified into Very Low/Unburned (Class 1), Low (Class 2/3), Moderate (Class 4/5) and High (Class 6/7). Total acreages for each class within the montane/upper montane for each administrative forest were calculated by summing the pixels associated with that class and multiplied by the area of the pixel.
