Description: This management area layer is used for GIS display and analysis of management area allocations across the Flathead National Forest. Alternative B Modified (preferred) is one of fouralternatives to be considered in the Final EIS and Forest Plan, which was released in December 2017. This layer has been aligned with ALP-based data, which is the agency standard for spatial location of lands data. On 5 June 2017, the boundary for Jewel Basin Hiking Area had been updated, still following the 1970 management plan and boundary description but using better imagery and DEM data. Alt.B Modified Management Area GIS layer was updated to reflect the new Jewel Basin Hiking Area boundary. On 9 April 2017, the section in upper Tin Creek was changed from 5c to 5a to match the proposed over-snow motorized closed area addition. Over-snow motorized GIS layer was changed in January 2017, the change to Alt.B Modified Management Area GIS layer was not caught until April 2017.On 24 March 2017, the section of Twin Creek from the confluence of Nanny Creek downstream to the South Fork of the Flathead River has been determined to be an eligible river for the WSR system. The quarter mile buffer either side of the creek in this section has been assigned MA 2b.On 18 January 2017, two changes were made. First, the MA 5a buffer of the trail #35 from Holland Lake to the east side of Upper Holland Lake in the recommended wilderness area (MA 1b) has been removed and the area is now labeled MA 1b. Second, the border between MA 1b, 2b, and MA 5c from just south of Lion Creek going north now follows the section line for section 1, 12, and 13 except for a 700 foot buffer around road #91395 where the road curves right next to the section line.
