Description: This line dataset stores information on fire direction as observed at the 2011 Texas Tanglewood Fire (Tanglewood Fire) in the field during the Tanglewood Fire Post-Fire Assessment. Fire direction can be determined after a fire through various indicators observed in the field. Needle freeze is one indicator of fire direction and is defined as the process of dehydrated foilage aligning or "freezing" parallel to the wind direction. Direction degree of damage or scorching on features can also indicate fire direction. Also, discontinuities in burned vegetation can indicate an ember causing fire spread and the direction of fire spread might be determined from these fire discontinuities.
