Description: This data publication contains thermocouple data collected as part of a prescribed fire research campaign conducted at the Camp Swift Military Base in Bastrop County, Texas on January 15, 2014. Four separate thermocouple rakes were placed in each of the research plots. The rakes were aligned in pairs and were relocated for each of the plot burns. The thermocouple rake data from each plot was downloaded in between burns to ensure data integrity. Each rake was made of 7.62 centimeters (cm) carbon steel square tubing measuring 2.44 meters (m) long. Sixteen thermocouple, nominally 0.02 milimeters (mm) diameter wire, are wired into the rake design and spaced every 15.24 cm apart. The rakes were mounted horizontally on adjustable tripods and paired, (such that two rakes were aligned end to end), then placed within the plots approximately 20 m from the downwind plot boundary. The rake heights were adjusted in order to have the thermocouple tips at fuel height. The thermocouples were connected to Campbell Scientific®model CR1000 data loggers and use a 12 volt 4.5 ampere hour (Ah) sealed lithium polymer battery. The data loggers are capable of logging over one million samples, providing 1.1 hours of continuous data logging at 30 hertz (Hz). The data logger was secured to one of the tripods, wrapped in Cotronics ceramic fiber insulation blanket, 3370 ultra-high temperature (UHT), and further wrapped in fire shelter material in order to withstand the elevated temperatures. The thermocouples were type K bare wire butt welded thermocouple connected to a 27 guage lead wire. This database contains a feature class for each distinct thermocouple rake that recorded data at the Camp Swift Fire Experiment 2014. Some thermocouples were damaged and did not collect data as noted in the Data Quality section below.
