Description: The publish date of this feature was 3/30/2019.Any Major Revision statements will be described below under "Credits".Louisiana Roadways is the result of a combined effort by La DOTD and local public governmental authorities where possible. The schema (or structure) of the roadway feature is based on the NENA NextGen911 schema released 6/16/2018 to be used in future Computer Aided Dispatch systems. The intent of La DOTD is to provide this feature in a common schema beneficial to most governmental agencies. This feature class represents the roadway centerline segments of roadways in the state. It contains any names and addressing information that was in the various source data. NONE OF THIS ATTRIBUTE DATA HAS BEEN UPDATED OR VERIFIED since delivery in 2015. The source for the non-state maintained roads were local datasets provided by individual parishes. Where local datasets were not available, TIGER/Line Shapefile products from the U.S. Census Bureau were used. All data delivered with these data sources were retained in the final product. The source for the state maintained roads was data created from collected GPS points from the LA DOTD Pavement Management Systems Section. The address information for the state maintained roads was incorporated from the TIGER/Line data. The TIGER/Line Shapefiles are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the Census MAF/TIGER database released in 2008. The Census MAF/TIGER database represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts. However, each TIGER/Line Shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set or the shapefiles can be combined to cover the whole nation. This initial source data was then spatially modified using the statewide imagery dataset collected by Sanborn for La GOHSEP in 2010. This imagery has been verified to be spatially correct for performing such work. As a second validation, the resulting delivery of this roadway feature has been verified using GPS collection in both directions by FUGRO for La DOTD. This data has since been loaded into the Enterprise GIS system of La DOTD and the geometry and basic information is being maintained by La DOTD including Road Names (as found), FromZLev, ToZLev, and OneWay (as found). All other data is reliant on information provided by authoritative local agencies.La DOTD desires to enter in cooperative efforts with 911 Communications Districts and local government agencies to improve the accuracy of this roadway feature including the attributes with the intent to use it as the Roadways layer of the Topographic Mapping Program.NOTE: A field named Ownership identifies the agency which to the knowledge of La DOTD owns and maintains the roadway. IF "UNKNOWN" is located in this field, it has NOT been determined if it is a roadway feasible for passage of a four wheel passenger vehicle and/or the agency which maintains the roadway has not been identified.

Copyright Text: No credits are required. As mentioned above, the source data for this feature was provided by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (La DOTD) in 2015. Roadway centerlines were modified to align with statewide imagery collected in 2010 by Sanborn through La GOHSEP which has been verified of its spatial accuracy. The accuracy of this feature has also been verified using GPS locations delivered to La DOTD by FUGRO. REVISONS: 03/30/2019 - Geometric improvements and maintenance has been made primarily to state highways within this feature. Where identified, road names were updated.
