A compilation of all hazard information to comprise the limit of Ontario Regulation 41/24 within the Ausable Bayfield CA jurisdictional boundary. Areas that fall within the regulated hazard require a Permit or Letter of Clearance for development from the Ausable Bayfield CA. Areas subject to the regulation are natural hazards that include flooding hazards, erosion hazards, dynamic beach hazards, unstable soils, and unstable bedrock/Karst topography areas. The regulation covers all watercourses, wetlands, other areas (wetland and other allowances), and the shoreline of Lake Huron for any or all the listed hazards. This limit can change as information that is more detailed from field visits or studies become available.
This layer represents an update/refinement of the original 2006 layer based on: updated watercourse and wetlands mapping; improved/recent air photos (2010,2015); improved topographic information, generated by the ABCA from 2010- and 2015-point clouds, and from 2011 Lidar Digital Elevation Models (DEM) in select watersheds; and the ABCA Shoreline Management Plan 2019. Changes approved by ABCA Board of Directors Dec. 20, 2018 and Sept. 19, 2019.
With the enactment of Ontario Regulation 41/24 on April 1, 2024, updates are ongoing to reduce the 120 m wetland allowance to a 30 m wetland allowance for other areas regulated. As well updates to remove regulated watercourses that do not meet the definition of a watercourse under Section 4 of O.Reg 41/24 will be completed.
This limit can change as information that is more detailed from field visits or studies become available. These changes will continue to be reviewed annually and reported to the ABCA Board of Directors for approval.
