Service Description: Floridians (state government & public) need data related to algal toxin hotspots because harmful algal blooms are a common occurrence Western Florida. Contact with algal toxins through drinking, dermal exposure, and aerosolization may cause symptoms that range from flu-like illness to liver damage in humans and potentially death in dogs and other animals. The locations on this map are identified as being a toxic algal bloom at one point, or more during the year of 2022.
