Service Description: The Horticulture Extension Agent and her partners need to identify appropriate areas for new pollinator garden plots in Caldwell County. Pollinators are important because they assist with plant reproduction. In order to gain approval and achieve their purpose of positively impacting pollinators, the garden plots must be strategically located. Solution areas would have areas large enough to meet garden size expectations, support pollinators through the growing season and be permeable land suitable for planting. Some potential hazards for pollinators will need to be considered. This includes industrial hazards, areas prone to agricultural drift, and heavily-trafficked motor vehicle areas. Part 1 of the project answers the question, "Where are areas in the county with potentially available land for new garden plots?"
