Service Description: This data set has been produced for work on the Nelson Slope Instability project and has been supplied for use by Nelson City Council for council to upload to their GIS system for viewing purpose only. The data contains a map overlay outlining land potentially susceptible to slope instability and impacts from the slope instability run-out revised to consider observations following the August 2022 Extreme Weather Event.

Description:

Susceptibility of land to instabilities and/or debris run out completed in accordance with AGS (2007a). Land considered susceptible to slope instability subdivided into three tiers of susceptibility.

Geospatial datasets considered in the assessment included Hillshade DEM, slope angles, underlying geology, previous slope failures, and mapped active faults.

See report Beca report 3201163-349031543-851 dated 9 December 2021 for detailed descriptions of the datasets and assessment methodology of the initial assessment.

Revision of the overlay following the August 2022 Extreme Weather Event considered whether the assigned suceptibility aligned with post-event observations.

Geospatial datasets considered in the assessment included post-event DEM, aerial imagery, CDEM rapid response data, NCC slip recods, and GeoNet reporting and landslide mapping.

See Beca report 3201163-349031543-880 dated 5 May 2023 for detailed description of the August 2022 revision including datasets.
