Description: Finalized in 2015, Metropolitan Planning Areas (MPAs) represent the contiguous areas likely to be urbanized for the next 20 years and therefore eligible for metropolitan planning funds. (Ref. 23 CFR 450.312) These boundaries were based on adjusted urbanized areas sourced from the 2010 US Census and in cooperation with MaineDOT and the regional transportation organizations specified therein.
