Service Description: Area of Detectable Oil in Mindoro, Philippines
Following the incident that sank the MT Princess Empress off the coast of Mindoro island on February 28, 2023, WWF-Philippines worked to create an online tool to track the extent of the oil slick in the surrounding seas generating possible oil spill extent using SAR data and collecting the processed imageries by different agencies such as the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and UP Marine Science Institute (MSI).
