Wyandotte County, Kansas building planimetric layer, also known as building footprints. This layer shows the outline of buildings.A building footprint is the outline of the exterior walls or foundation of a building. If exterior walls or foundation are not ascertainable (e.g. from vertical aerial photography), the building footprint is usually considered to be the area under the extended projection of the roof (eaves). Non-photogrammetrically-edited building features (many) are by necessity drawn as roof eave outlines.This polygon feature dataset is in ESRI GIS format in Kansas North State Plane NAD83 coordinates, units feet. The dataset covers all of Wyandotte County, Kansas, but there are areas of older and/or missing data. The data provided in this layer are mostly extracted from the BUILDING layer in over 600 quarter section AutoCAD DWG's. FME software is used to facilitate the data extraction and conversion from CAD to GIS. Some features were digitized manually.Attribution includes name (i.e. of facility) and street address (only if known and recorded-- this is not a situs address layer). Also included are fields for building height and number of building stories (these fields are not in use yet). Additionally, a FEATURECODE field contains domain code values for Facility Type codes used by Esri's Local Government Information Model schema. These codes represent broad categories of types of building uses, (e.g. Industry, Commercial and Retail, Public Attractions and Landmarks). These values are intended primarily for use on the web in basemaps used by Community Maps program in ArcGIS Online.Every building feature should have a FEATURECODE. These codes were assigned on the basis of personal knowledge of the processor, or through verification through taxroll ownerships and/or aerial photo interpretation techniques. Caution should be used in using this information because it has not been field-verified.
