Description: Meters are devices which accurately measure the amount of electricity consumed by a residential, commercial, or industrial customer over a set period of time. The current fed to a meter must be stepped-down from a high voltage current via a transformer in order to be measured. Meters measure the consumption of electricity in kilowatt-hours (kWh); a measure of how many 1,000 watt units of electricty are used in a one hour period.Symbology used to represent electric features should utilize the American Public Works Association (APWA) utility color codes standard (rgb; 209, 36, 33) (pantone matching system; PMS 1795).
