Geometry Type: esriGeometryPoint

Description: Main panels are fed directly by meters and feed other main panels and subpanels. Subpanels are fed by main panels and feed other subpanels, campsite hookups, and other electrical equipment. Subpanels are often referred to as 'satellites'. The main panels and subpanels are visualized in the GIS as they actually occur in the field. If a panel board has electrical equipment on both sides, then the arrangement of the main panels and subpanels depicts the order of the equipment on the board (i.e. when viewed from the west the arrangment may be be a main panel and a subpanel to the right). The electric lines which connect the electrical equipment on the panel boards are standard 1 foot lines referred to as 'main lines' in the 'eLine' dataset. These 'main lines' may or may not depict the actual path of electrical lines in the field and were digitized for the sole purpose of showing connectivity between electrical features.Similarly, the lines connecting poles to meters and main panels do not represent the actual paths of electrical lines and were digitized to show connectivity. Where possible, the 1 foot main line standard was utilized. The course of these lines follows the bearing of a path connecting pole to main panel.Main panels and subpanels feed other electrical equipment such as campsite hookups. This arrangement allows clusters of campsites to be shut off via a main panel for the purpose of elctrical work or in the event of an emergency. Electrical lines in the GIS feed into main panels or subpanels and depict bundles of lines in conduits in the field. The paths of the elctrical lines feeding campsites from main panels and subpanels is believed to be accurate. The panel number field in the GIS represents the actual letter/number designation for the main panels and subpanels in the field. These panel numbers constitute a network where main panel "A" may feed subpanel "A-1" and/or "A-1-2". New model panels contain a main switch and subpanel components and are classified as a 'main/sub' in the 'type' field. Multiple values are present in the 'panelno' field for these new model panels. The locations of main panels and subpanels were verified through field work including field sketches and photographs. The information written on the inside/outside of the main panels and subpanels is included in the GIS within the panel number field and the notes field.Current transformers reduce the high voltage currents transmitted by power lines to a lower voltage current which can be accurately measured by a meter. For this reason, electricity must be fed into a current transformer before being fed into a meter. Current flows from overhead power lines to an electric pole, then down to ground level via an electric 'drop', then into the current transformer which reduces the voltage and feeds the current into the meter.Symbology used to represent electric features should utilize the American Public Works Association (APWA) utility color codes standard (rgb; 209, 36, 33) (pantone matching system; PMS 1795).
