Description: Culverts are structures which allow stormwater to flow under obstructions such as roadways. The extent and flow of the area drained by a culvert determines the material and size of the structure. Culverts range from simple metal tubes designed to carry a small stream to massive 'tunnels' of reinforced concrete designed to carry rivers. Within the MWCD stormwater network, these materials and sizes vary, but are commonly limited to various sizes of corrugated metal pipe (CMP), corrugated plastic pipe (CPP), and reinforced concrete pipe (RCP). Culverts include stormwater drainage pipes 12 inches in diameter and greater.Symbology used to represent stormwater features should utilize the MWCD color standard (rgb; 0, 25, 100).
