Description: Since the GIS data was developed for planning purposes and use in publication of maps and/or database creation, the data is for illustrative purpose only and is not suitable for parcel specific decision making. Therefore, the GIS data presented herein are approximations and further land development determination is at the discretion of the PRMD planning staff which may require a parcel specific site review (to draw parcel specific conclusions). The Permit Sonoma Area ID dataset represents a countywide (including incorporated areas) area designations for the purpose of managing inspection areas per Code Enforcement, Building and Well & Septic. Permit Sonoma Area ID consists of 42 geographic areas within the County of Sonoma. The county is divided into these areas for the purposes of various types of inspections that PRMD staff performs. These areas are named for communities but are not necessarily contiguous with any individual community boundary due to aggregation of several communities into the larger area. These areas are called Area IDs and are appended to the address attached to permits and activities processed at PRMD. Three character IDs indicate unincorporated areas and two character IDs are incorporated cities.Historical Background:As of January 2007, PRMD Area ID's (formerly known as "Community Codes") was realigned to coincide with PRMD inspector areas (Building, Well and Septic, and Code Enforcement) so as to reflect changes made in the Permits Plus System. Therefore, the realignment of ID's are NOT based on any subdivision, census or any other geographical data or boundary. Several original community codes were merged together in the creation of the PRMD AREA ID's:OLD to NEW -- ASTI (Asti) to GEY (Geyserville), BLO (Bloomfield) to TWI (Twin Hills), BOD (Bodega) to BBY (Bodega Bay), BOY (Boyes Hot Springs) to AGU (Agua Caliente), CAZ (Cazadero) to GUE (Guerneville), DUN (Duncan Mills) to MRO (Monte Rio), ELD (Eldridge) to GLE (Glen Ellen), ELV (El Verano) to AGU (Agua Caliente), FUL (Fulton) to SRO (Santa Rosa - County), HES (Hessel) to SEB (Sebastopol - County), KNI (Knights Valley) to WIN (Windsor - County), KOR (Korbel) to GUE (Guerneville), LAR (Larkfield) to WIN (Windsor - County), MTN (Mountain) to MWS (Mark West Springs), RIO (Rio Nido) to GUE (Guerneville), ROH (Rohnert Park - County) to PEN (Penngrove), ROS (Roseland) to BEL (Bellevue), VFR (Valley Ford) to TWI (Twin Hills).
