Service Description: Polygon layer displaying population by ZIP Code in Sonoma County. This is not an official USPS zip code feature class: The USPS does not provide, produce, or make available an official Zip Code GIS feature class. This feature class was somewhat verified by using the all special address attributes (label) that had been run through the Accuzip CAS certification and a zip code was either assigned or the existing zip code was confirmed by joining the Accuzip tabular data back to the special address geography and symbolizing on the Accuzip verified zip code using a visual comparison to the existing zip code layer.
Layer includes data for population over the age of 16. Population was calculated using ESRI Demographics enrich tool (variables used: 2020 Total Population Estimate and 2020 Total Population by one year increments age <1-15). To calculate population over the age of 16 the 2020 Total Population by one year increments age <1-15 were summed and subtracted from the 2020 Total Population Estimate.
