Description: The dataset identifies, in general, the areas where final critical habitats for California tiger salamander, in Sonoma County, occur. The dataset encompasses one unit consisting of aquatic, upland, and dispersal habitat that is essential to the conservation of the species.
The dataset was created by U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and was provided to Sonoma County Permit and Resource Management Department for inclusion in the General Plan 2020 Open Space and Resource Conservation Element. The final designation became effective on September 30, 2011, and was published in the Federal Register on August 31, 2011.
PRMD has been designated as the responsible County department to implement the use of the adopted CTS critical habitat boundary. Since all General Plan and/or zoning map changes need formal adopted by the Board of Supervisors (BOS), PRMD GIS will assist planning staff requesting BOS approval to implement the adopted CTS critical habitat boundary as a technical correction per parcel residing in and/or touched by the subject boundary.
