Description: This dataset contains information about the flood hazards within the study area. These zones are used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to designate the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) and for insurance rating purposes. These data are the flood hazard areas that are or will be depicted on the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM). There is one polygon for each contiguous flood zone designated. This information is required for all draft Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps. The Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Database depicts flood risk information and supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event (100 year), the 0.2-percent-annual-chance flood event (500 year), and areas of minimal flood risk. The DFIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by FEMA. This dataset is an update to the DFIRM_FLDHAZ_OCT17 layer.

Description: This data set contains regions representing areal NHD hydrographic waterbody features. Basic waterbodies such as lake/pond features are represented here. They portray the spatial geometry and the attributes of the feature. These water polygons may contain NHDFlowline artificial paths to allow the representation of water flow. Other NHDWaterbody features are swamp/marsh, reservoir, playa, estuary, and ice mass. The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is a feature-based database that interconnects and uniquely identifies the stream segments or reaches that make up the nation's surface water drainage system. NHD data was originally developed at 1:100,000-scale and exists at that scale for the whole country. This high-resolution NHD, generally developed at 1:24,000/1:12,000 scale, adds detail to the original 1:100,000-scale NHD. The data was originally published by the USGS then it is modified by the NHD data steward for Florida (FDEP). When received from FDEP, this data was originally in geodatabase format. When in shapefile format the data loses the network functionality of the geodatabase. Please contact the FDEP if you need the original geodatabase.

Description: The Florida Power Plant Siting Act (PPSA), ss. 403.501-.518, Florida Statues (F.S.), is the State's process for the licensing of large power plants. https://floridadep.gov/air/siting-coordination-office/content/conditions-certification. A certification constitutes the sole license of the state and any agency as to the approval of the location of the site and any associated facility, as well as the construction and operation of the electrical power plant, except for the issuance of licenses required under any federally delegated or approved permit program and any other exemptions provided in 403.511(4), F.S. The PPSA was designed to provide a streamlined process for the development of energy infrastructure, which is necessary for the health, welfare, and protection of the citizens of the state, while protecting the public and the environment from the impacts of the infrastructure. While most facilities need to get any number of permits or approvals from local and state agencies, large power plants in the State are treated differently. All local and state permits or approvals are pre-empted, and only one license is issued, called a "certification". However, all of the local governments or state agencies within whose jurisdiction the power plant is to be certified participate in the process, to assure that the issues normally subject to regulatory approval or other authorizations are addressed. Therefore, the PPSA is a centralized licensing process encompassing the permitting, land use and zoning, and property interests of all state, regional, and local agencies which have jurisdiction over an area where an electrical power plant is or potentially will be located. https://geodata.dep.state.fl.us/datasets/certified-power-plants

Description: This is a statewide layer representing mitigation banks permitted under Ch. 373.4136, Florida Statutes. Florida mitigation bank information is important for wetland permit reviewers and developers that may need mitigation options. The layer can also serve to enhance information on conservation lands. Mitigation Banks may be permitted by DEP or a Water Management District, but are used by both agencies, creating the need for a statewide layer. Mitigation banking is a practice in which an environmental enhancement and preservation project is conducted by a public agency or private entity (banker) to provide mitigation for unavoidable wetland impacts within a defined region (represented in the Mitigation Banks Service Area layer). The bank is the site itself (this data layer), and the currency sold by the banker to the impact permittee is a credit, which represents the wetland ecological value equivalent to the complete restoration of one acre. The number of potential credits permitted for the bank and the credit debits required for impact permits are determined by the permitting agencies, and this information is provided in the data layer table. For more information on mitigation banking, go to https://floridadep.gov/water/submerged-lands-environmental-resources-coordination/content/mitigation-and-mitigation-banking

Description: Aquatic Preserves are state-owned sovereign submerged lands in areas which have exceptional biological, aesthetic, and scientific value, as described in Chapter 258.39, Florida Statutes, which have been set aside for the benefit of future generations. These areas are managed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Office of Coastal and Aquatic Managed Areas.Currently, all Aquatic Preserves are also Outstanding Florida Waters (OFWs). However, it is important to note that there are three Aquatic Preserves whose OFW boundaries differ from the Aquatic Preserve boundary. These are described more specifically in the OFW rule 62-302.700: Indian River - Malabar to Vero Beach - does not include portions of Sebastian and Turkey creeks; Wekiva River - does not include portions of the St. Johns River; and Big Bend Seagrasses - the OFW rule specifies certain "incorporated and unincorporated areas" that are excluded from the Aquatic Preserve.

Description: FLORIDA FOREVER BOT PROJECTS (layer name FFBOT): This is a polygon data layer for Florida Forever Board of Trustees (BOT) projects (formerly known as CARL projects). This data layer is site-based and contains boundaries of all Florida Forever BOT projects approved by the State's Acquisition and Restoration Council as of April 19, 2019. These lands have been proposed for acquisition because of outstanding natural resources, opportunity for natural resource-based recreation, or historical and archaeological resources. However, these areas may not be currently managed for their resource value. Portions of these projects may have already been acquired by the State and/or its acquisition partners. This is an update to FGDL layer fl_forever_mar19.
