This Feature Layer displays the Voluntary Non-Tidal Dock Registration data submitted to the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) Wetlands Bureau. The voluntary registration program is designed to streamline the process for waterfront property owners by providing a simplified method to document existing non-tidal docking structures, including both seasonal and permanent installations.
Registering a dock voluntarily serves several key purposes. First, it helps to establish a clear record that a structure exists in compliance with applicable state statutes and administrative rules. This documentation can be particularly valuable during real estate transactions, as it provides assurance to prospective buyers and lending institutions that the docking structures on the property are legally recognized and maintained within regulatory standards.
Second, participation in the voluntary registration program facilitates future maintenance and improvements. Property owners who have registered their docks are generally able to repair or replace them with fewer regulatory hurdles, provided the structures remain within the scope of the original registration.
This layer provides spatial and attribute information for each registered dock, including location coordinates, registration details, structure type (seasonal or permanent), and submission date. The dataset supports environmental planning, regulatory review, and land use decision-making by offering an authoritative source of dock-related data across non-tidal areas of New Hampshire.
