Description: The purpose of this layer is to inventory and track recreational uses (e.g. hike, bike, OHV... etc.) permitted on designated trails within Colorado Parks & Wildlife properties.
Copyright Text: The Colorado State Trails Program (a division of Colorado Parks & Wildlife) coordinated the three year effort to inventory and assess 466 designated trails in 37 Colorado State Parks (as of Aug. 2013). Funding for the initial inventory, assessment and verification of 38 discrete attributes was provided by Great Outdoors Colorado (Colorado lottery funds) and the Federal Highway Administration's Recreational Trail Program (Federal Gasoline Taxes).
The Colorado State Trails Program acknowledges the dedicated public servants who contributed to the project. This dataset would not exist in it’s current form without the professionalism of countless CPW administrators, Park Managers, PRTs, Rangers, regional staffs, contractors and seasonals employees.
On-going maintenance of this feature class is performed by CPW GIS Unit staff.
