BPPA is a defined geographical area where the enhancement of bicycle and pedestrian traffic and safety is a priority. The County has 32 BPPAs spread throughout our commercial and residential areas. However, the Council identified five priority BPPAs to start working on immediately; they are Glenmont, Grosvenor, Silver Spring CBD, Veirs Mill/Randolph, and Wheaton CBD.
Updates:
5/16/2019:
1) Updated the boundary of the Veirs Mill BPPA per the Veirs Mill Corridor Master Plan approved by County Coucil on 4/23/2019.
1/24/2018:
1) Added the White Flint 2 BPPA as specified in the White Flint 2 Master Plan approved by County Council on
12/05/2017.
2) Added column to designate if BPPA is designated by Marlyand SHA.
8/8/2017:
1) Added the Lytonsville BPPA as specified in The Greater Lyttonsville Sector Plan.
2) Modified the Westbard BPPA boundary to be coincident with the Westbard Sector Plan as specified in the sector plan.
8/28/2018:
1) Added the Chevy Chase Lake, Burtonsville and Cabin Branch BPPAs as specified in the Technical Update to the Master Plan of Highways and Transitways, adopted by County Council on 7/24/2018.
2) Expanded the boundaries of the following existing BPPAs: Germantown, Piney Branch (Flower/Arliss), Great Seneca Science Corridor, Kensington and Langley Crossroads. All expansions are specified in the Technical Update to the Master Plan of Highways and Transitways, adopted by County Council on 7/24/2018.
