This feature class depicts the PFAS sampling locations from the Desert Research Institute paper titled "Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in surface water and sediments from two urban watersheds in Nevada, USA". Sampling for PFAS in both water and sediments was conducted in the Truckee River watershed and the Las Vegas Wash in 2019. PFAS detections occurred at all sampling sites. PFAS species detected varied among sites.
Samples were analyzed for the following PFAS species: PFBA (perfluorobutanoic acid), PFPeA (perfluoropentanoic acid), PFHxA (perfluorohexanoic acid), PFHpA (perfluoroheptanoicacid), PFOA, PFNA (perfluorononanoic acid), PFDA (perfluorodecanoic acid), PFUA, PFDoA, PFTrDA, PFBS (perfluorobutane sulfonic acid), PFPeS (perfluoropentane sulfonic acid), PFHxS (perfluorohexane sulfonic acid), PFHpS (perfluoroheptane sulfonic acid), PFOS, PFNS, and PFDS (perfluorodecane sulfonic acid).
The following PFAS species were detected in the study: PFBA, PFPeA, PFHxA, PfHpA, PFOA, PFUA, PFBS, PFPeS, PFHxS, PFOS, PFNS, and PFDS,
The most dominant PFAS species in the Truckee River was PFDS. The most dominant PFAS species in the Las Vegas Wash was PFBS.
