The North Dakota Legislative Districts were enacted by House Bill No. 1504, approved by the 67th Legislative Assembly of North Dakota during the Special Session commencing on November 8, 2021, and filed on November 12, 2021. Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, et al. successfully challenged the legislative redistricting plan. On November 17, 2023, the United States District Court held the drawing of Districts 9 and 15 and Subdistricts 9A and 9B prevents Native American voters from electing a candidate of their choice, violating Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
