Selected landfills permitted in North Dakota. Users of this dataset can symbolize by field WASTETYPE to distinguish between various facilities. WASTETYPE is the primary type of waste a facility is permitted to accept. Some facilities may accept other types of waste but this field contains the primary waste type. Can include municipal solid waste (MSW), industrial, special-energy, special-oilfield, agricultural. In the future, the field may also include special energy-CCR and special energy -NonCCR. CCR stands for coal combustion residuals.

Industrial | solid waste that is not hazardous generated from industrial and manufacturing processes. Full definition in NDCC23.1-08-02(5) |
special-energy | Special waste is solid waste that is not hazardous and includes waste generated by the energy industry. "special-energy" WASTETYPE refers to waste generated by power plants and energy conversion facilities (example energy conversion facility is Dakota Gasification Company). special-oilfield | Special waste is solid waste that is not hazardous and includes waste generated by the energy industry. "special-oilfield" WASTETYPE refers to facilities that accept waste primarily from crude oil and natural gas exploration and production. Full definition of special waste is NDCC 23.1-08-02(16). |
agricultural | This is solid waste derived from the production and processing of crops and livestock, but does not include pesticide waste and pesticide containers. Full definition is NDAC 33.1-20-01.1-03(3) |
