This map was created to indicate waterways containg populations of State and Federally Listed freshwater mussels. These watersheds are particularly sensitive to certain stormwater and wastewater discharges.
If you are applying to CTDEEP for a Wastewater Discharge from Domestic Sewage, follow these additional instructions:
If the permitted discharge is into a waterway mapped as having State or Federally Listed Species by the NDDB Freshwater Mussel Map, with the exception of the Connecticut River, you must further evaluate your activity as detailed below. You must submit a Request for NDDB State Listed Species Review form (DEEP-APP-007) to NDDB.
Please note that NDDB review generally takes 4 to 6 weeks. Please include in your NDDB application detail about all outfall locations including CSOs. If the discharge enters a storm drain or pipe indicate on your NDDB application map the outfall or point of discharge to the surface water, and provide latitude and longitude at the surface water entry. Include monitoring plans and results of past monitoring that relate to Total Suspended Solids and Total Ammonia Nitrogen. Provide a description of the type(s) of disinfection used for wastewater discharged through each outfall. Indicate the seasons in which each disinfection type is used. Note whether the POTW dechlorinates, if disinfection is accomplished through chlorination. Indicate if any of the WET tests resulted in toxicity. If yes, describe the cause(s) of toxicity. If applicable, include detail that explains any exceedance for a permitted water quality parameter, and what steps are being taken to correct the problem.
