Description: The data presented here attempts to quantify the potential conservation value of land within Connecticut’s CELCP Project Area using a variety of environmental data. The CELCP Project Area is defined by the municipal boundaries of Connecticut’s statutorily defined 36 coastal cities and towns plus the six southern-most Connecticut River valley towns containing significant tidal marsh plant communities. The color-coded area depicts Connecticut’s CELCP Project Area that was further analyzed to identify coastal land conservation focus areas...clusters of similarly ranked conservation values. Although the focus areas are intended to help guide the identification of potential acquisition opportunities, they do not restrict areas where acquisition projects can be proposed, nor will acquisition candidate sites within these areas necessarily be given priority for nomination to the national CELCP land acquisition grant program solely based upon the rankings or scores shown here.
