Description: Space-time cube for poachings of African black and white rhinos between 2006 and 2017. Countries shown are those in which rhinos live or lived between 2006 and 2017, and consist of Botswana, DR Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, eSwatini, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Although some countries showed potential trends, only South Africa, Namibia and Malawi statistically significant trends, all of which point to an increase in the incidence of poaching in these countries. Between 2006 and 2017, no rhinos were killed in Senegal or Côte d'Ivoire, although both countries only recorded rhinos for the first time in 2017. Rhinos were poached to extinction in DR Congo in 2009.
