Description: CTDOT has developed a statewide Roadway Context Classification System for all non-limited-access state roadways to support implementation of its Complete Streets Policy and advance a department-wide shift toward context-based planning, design, and decision-making. This final feature class was created from a combined workflow of geoprocessing tool and manual review.The tool integrates multiple geospatial datasets—including roadway, access control, building, and intersection data—to segment road networks, calculate density metrics (such as intersections and building area), and apply configurable classification thresholds to assign context types to each roadway segment. It produces a geodatabase with classified outputs and optional intermediate data for troubleshooting. The geoprocessing was guided by NCHRP. Manual review was then conducted to finalize the classification.This dataset is being provided as an intermediate deliverable on June15th 2026 ahead of the final deliverable anticipated June 22nd.Field "Modified_ContextClassification" has the final values for the context. All other fields are location information and geoprocessing steps of variables.
