Equestrian routes in the ACT managed by the ACT Government.
Routes are a combination of paths, roads, fire trails and open space and are those specifically identified as suitable for horse riding by the ACT Government and ACT Equestrian Association (ACTEA). Tracks that make up the Bicentennial National Trail (BNT) in the ACT are identified in the data. The routes and land are managed by ACT Parks and Conservation and Transport Canberra and City Services.
Data has been collected and validated from aerial photography, field checking and existing ACT Government tracks and trails mapping.
Only limited attribute data is included:
BICENTENNIAL_TRAIL (Yes, No). Indicates whether the route is part of the BNT in the ACT
ROUTE_STATUS:
Endorsed - route has been endorsed by both Government and ACTEA and is actively managed and maintained as required.
Decommissioned - former route no longer in use and not maintained for horse riding. Data retained for reference but filtered out in published maps.
Interim - short-term route alignment due to uncertainty of final route e.g. during land development.
Proposed - new route proposed by either the ACT Government land managers or ACTEA but not yet endorsed. May be filtered out in published maps.
Informal - agreed equestrian route but not maintained and my not be an established track.
Data is managed by ACT Parks and Conservation, Environment Protection and Sustainable Development Directorate, ACT Government.
