Service Description: These data represent the de-duplicated combination of three datasets from USGS NHD, Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries GTILO-2 dataset, and The Nature Conservancy's field-validated springs in Oregon.
Oregon has more springs than any other state in the contiguous United States. More than 29,500 mapped springs have been compiled from three datasets. Thermal springs are identified using DOGAMI's GTILO-2 dataset, and have measured temperatures up to greater than 200° F. Many thermal springs remain unmapped.

Description: This dataset represents the approximate location of springs mapped in Oregon. Upon compilation, many duplicate springs were identified among the three datasets. Springs were determined to be duplicates if they either:
(a) were found within 10 m of each other, or
(b) were found within 100 m of each other and had the same name.
Springs with the "SpringType" = hot were based on point measurements made by DOGAMI with temperatures > 100° F. Springs with the "SpringType" = warm were based on point measurements made by DOGAMI with temperatures < 100° F but warmer than nearby or connected water temperatures. Springs with the "SpringType" = thermal were qualitatively determined by DOGAMI to have thermal characteristics, but did not have an associated point measurement.
Most springs have the "SpringType" = unknown, which means they did not have qualitative assessments or quantitative data regarding thermal characteristics. These springs may be hot, warm, or cool.
